ACAI BOWL

Originating from Brazil, the acai bowl is a smoothie made from frozen acai fruits, which is usually served in a bowl with granola, banana and guarana syrup. There are different regional variations with tapioca balls, prawns or dried fish as toppings. We present our favorite version:


INGREDIENTS

    200 g unsweetened frozen acai
    1 cup fresh or frozen mixed berries
    1 Banana
    ¾ cup milk

    ½ cup yogurt(optional)

    2 tablespoons almond butter (optional)


    HOW IT WORKS


    1. Freeze the fruit

    Cut the banana into slices and place on a baking tray or plate lined with baking paper. Place fresh or frozen fruit on the same plate. Place the baking tray or plate in the freezer and allow the fruit to freeze completely.


    2. Blend

    Once the fruit is frozen, place the milk, yogurt and almond butter in the bowl of a large high-speed blender fitted with a hand blender. Add the frozen blueberries, strawberries, bananas and chopped acai berries. Set the blender to the lowest setting and press the frozen fruit down with the pusher to blend as well as possible. Continue blending on low speed until smooth, adding liquid only if necessary.


    Caution: 

         Do not add flavored yogurt!



    3. Assemble

    Divide the smoothie between two bowls and garnish with the desired toppings. Best consumed immediately (otherwise it will melt).

    Tips

    • Use your favorite milk (cow's milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc.) or juice (apple or grape juice)

    • Frozen acai is available in most supermarket chains
